Rosacea

Rosacea is a very common condition. Despite this we still do not fully understand why it develops. Genetic factors certainly play a role but environmental factors are also important, particularly sun damage. Most people notice they flush easily with heat or emotional triggers. Over time this redness can become more persistent with visible capillaries developing on the cheeks nose and chin. Often people notice this especially in photographs. Living with rosacea can cause a great deal of emotional distress.

Treatment Advice

We recommend initially seeing one of our Dermatologists for an accurate diagnosis and treatment plan.

Laser treatment to treat the redness and flushing is a vital in the overall management of rosacea. The Candela V Beam laser is a state of the art treatment which is extremely safe and effective. Most patients only require 2-3 treatments initially and may benefit from one maintenance treatment every 1-3 years. The Candela V beam Perfecta Laser delivers an intense but gentle burst of yellow light to selectively targeted areas of the skin; for Rosacea we are focusing on the Redness, Capillaries or Telangiectasia. This light is absorbed by blood vessels in the skin and over time the skin slowly reduces the appearance of rosacea.

Rhinophyma (enlargement of the nose) is also very amenable to laser treatment and our doctors can advise you regarding this.

Skin Care

Rosacea is a very sensitive skin condition. We recommend that these skin care products be introduced one at a time and slowly so that the skin can adjust to the medical grade skin care without any adverse reactions. Please talk to one of our skin therapists before starting on the skin care so a treatment plan can be prescribed for your skins needs.
