How our skin specialists can reduce your unwanted hair:
Our highly trained skin professionals provide safe and effective laser hair removal treatments for unwanted hair using the highest quality lasers. At the Complete Skin Specialists, we understand that successful laser hair removal treatments require operator experience. Your treatments will be performed by either a Senior Dermal Therapist or Cosmetic Nurse who hold a valid Laser Safety Certificate.
How does laser hair reduction work?
The Laser uses light to selectively target hair without damaging surrounding skin. The hair follicles then absorb the light from the laser and convert it to heat which destroys the follicle and disables the blood supply, so the hair can’t grow.
The laser we use is the Gentle Max Pro which is the gold standard for laser hair reduction. It has a dual wavelength which means we are able to safely treat a range of skin types. The laser can only target dark hairs so patient with red, grey, white or blonde hairs cannot be treated successfully with this method.
Is laser hair reduction safe?
Laser has been used safely for many years but as with any cosmetic procedure there are always associated risks and complications.
It is very important to ensure that your laser operator is qualified and has the appropriate certification.
Here at the Complete Skin Specialists, our highly skilled therapists will provide an initial consultation to assess your suitability which includes a test patch to ensure there is no adverse reactions.
You can expect that there will be some redness and swelling immediately after treatment, this can be well managed with cold compresses and aloe vera. Incomplete healing, skin texture changes and scarring are all very rare side effects and your therapist will give you complete instructions to follow to minimise the chance of these occurring.
How many laser hair reduction sessions will I require?
We recommended, on average, anywhere between 6-10 treatments. The intervals in which we treat depend on the different hair growth cycles specific to the different parts of the body.
How long do laser hair reduction results last?
After your course of treatments you can expect a marked reduction in hair growth. Sometimes you can experience a small amount of regrowth which can be easily managed with touch up treatments every 6-12 months or longer.
How should I prepare for laser hair reduction?
The hair needs to be shaved to skin level 2-3 days prior to your treatment ready for your laser. We recommend to not wax, pluck or bleach the hair in between treatments, shaving is an option to manage hair between sessions. Sun exposure and fake tans should be avoided at all times during the course of the treatment.
