Dr Ryan Toholka

Consultant Dermatologist

Dr Ryan Toholka is a specialist dermatologist and a fellow of the Australasian College of Dermatologists.

Medical training and achievements:
Dr Toholka graduated from the University of Melbourne with Honours in Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery, and a Bachelor of Medical Science. His intern and medical residency years were spent at Geelong Hospital, and he spend a research year at the Occupational Dermatology Research and Education Centre associated with the Skin and Cancer Foundation Inc.

Dr Toholka has worked in clinical trials at the Skin and Cancer Foundation Inc and Eastern Clinical Research Unit aligned with Monash University, working with biologic treatments for chronic plaque psoriasis, nail psoriasis and hidradenitis suppurativa, topical treatments for actinic keratoses and medical treatments for inoperable basal cell carcinoma. Additionally, he has held dermatology registrar training positions at the Skin and Cancer Foundation Inc, Royal Children’s Hospital, Alfred Hospital, St Vincent’s Hospital, and spent a year overseas at St Georges Hospital in London.

Dr Toholka also consults at Bendigo Base Hospital, The Royal Children’s Hospital and Northwest Regional Health in Burne, Tasmania.

He is academically accomplished, having published multiple papers and contributed to text book chapters in the field of allergic contact dermatitis and contact urticaria and presented papers at the Australasian College of Dermatologists Annual Scientific Meeting, and at the European Society of Contact Dermatitis Meeting.

As a local, Dr Toholka spent his childhood and teenage years in Macedon, attending Macedon Primary School and Braemar College in Woodend. He has been involved in, and participated with, local football and cricket teams.

Specialist areas:
Dr Toholka enjoys treating inflammatory skin conditions such as eczema, psoriasis and acne in both adults and children, as well as skin cancer detection and management. He does not undertake cosmetic dermatology.

Dr Toholka is available at our Sunbury location every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday (fortnightly). A referral is required to make an appointment.
