Enzyme peels, sometimes referred to as chemical peels, are one of several cosmetic treatment options used to support skin renewal. These treatments involve the application of a chemical solution to exfoliate the outermost layer of the skin. This process may assist in improving the appearance of uneven texture or tone in some individuals.

Enzyme peels involve the application of a chemical solution to gently exfoliate the upper layers of the skin. This process may support skin renewal and assist with the appearance of uneven tone or congestion in some individuals.
A peel may be considered as part of a personalised treatment plan for those seeking to address concerns such as pigmentation, acne-prone or congested skin, fine lines, or uneven texture. A consultation with a qualified practitioner is required to assess suitability and determine the most appropriate approach.
At Complete Skin Specialists, a range of enzyme peels is available. These treatments may be offered on their own or alongside other procedures, depending on individual needs and goals.
Peels can be performed year-round, including during summer. However, strict sun protection is recommended both before and after treatment to help minimise the risk of irritation or post-inflammatory pigmentation.
We do start with a consultation, if appropriate, we will perform a ‘mini-peel’ on the day.
While the term “peel” may sound intense, enzyme peels are generally mild. Some individuals may notice light flaking of the skin in the days following treatment as the outer layers exfoliate.
Not all people experience visible peeling, and outcomes can vary depending on your skin type and the specific peel used. Your practitioner will explain what to expect based on your treatment plan and provide aftercare instructions to support skin recovery.
Enzyme peels may be considered during pregnancy or breastfeeding in some cases, depending on the specific ingredients used and your individual skin concerns.
If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, please inform your practitioner before your appointment. Your suitability for treatment will be assessed, and product choices can be adjusted accordingly.
Some cosmetic procedures, including certain types of lasers or medications, are not recommended during pregnancy. Enzyme peels may be one of the options discussed for supporting your skin during this time, if appropriate.
