Dr Bonnie Swan is a specialist dermatologist and fellow of the Australasian College of Dermatologists
Medical training and achievements:
Dr Swan graduated from the University of Melbourne with Honours in Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery, and Bachelor of Medical Science in 2009. She completed her internship and residency at St Vincent’s Hospital in Melbourne then went on to four years of Dermatology specialist training at Melbourne’s major hospitals and in London at the renowned St George’s Hospital. At graduation, Bonnie was awarded the American Academy of Dermatology Prize for merit in the Australasian College of Dermatologist Fellowship examinations 2016.
In addition to Dermatology, Bonnie has further trained internationally in Mohs Micrographic Surgery, a specialised surgical technique for skin cancer treatment. She completed a 12 month Mohs Micrographic Surgery Fellowship at the prestigious St John’s Institute of Dermatology, Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospitals in London where she stayed on as a Consultant. She went on to complete a further 6 month Mohs Micrographic Surgery Fellowship at Oxford Day Surgery in Perth Western Australia, obtaining extensive experience in an area of high need for skin cancer treatment.
Dr Swan has multiple papers published in the Australasian Journal of Dermatology and had her work presented at the Australasian College of Dermatologists Annual Scientific Meetings and internationally at the British Association of Dermatologists Annual Meeting.
Dr Swan is currently a visiting dermatology consultant at The Alfred Hospital and performs Mohs Micrographic Surgery at the Skin and Cancer Foundation Victoria.
Having first lived in the local Gisborne area over 15 years ago, with her family and beloved horse, has returned to provide dermatology care to the area. She strives to give a holistic and individualised approach, offering both advanced surgical and medical treatments to her patients.

Dr Swan has spent years in general dermatology, and enjoys variety in her practice including the management of acne, eczema and excess sweating. She has developed a subspecialty interest in skin cancer management and offers advanced surgical treatment including Mohs Micrographic Surgery. At The Alfred Hospital, she cares for patients with organ transplants and skin cancer, an area of great need. Dr Swan does not undertake cosmetic dermatology.
Dr Swan is available at our Sunbury location every Monday, Wednesday, Thursday (fortnightly) and Friday. A referral is required to make an appointment.
