We offer an extensive range of treatment options for benign skin lesions. Many lumps and bumps on the skin are non-cancerous and harmless but may cause irritation or concern due to their appearance or discomfort.
Benign skin lesions or growths are non-cancerous and may appear anywhere on the body. These lesions often grow slowly or remain stable in size and may be solitary or occur in clusters.
At Complete Skin Specialists, we provide assessments for a variety of benign skin conditions. If treatment is appropriate, options will be discussed during your consultation with a qualified practitioner.
Some of the benign skin conditions we may assess include:
Seborrheic keratosis: These are common, raised skin-coloured, brown, or black lesions typically found on the head or torso. They may be removed for cosmetic reasons or if causing irritation.
Acne cysts and comedones: These are lumps under the skin commonly seen in acne-prone individuals. Depending on the presentation, treatment may include medical therapies or minor procedures.
Milia: Small white bumps near the skin’s surface. Treatment options may be discussed if extraction is appropriate.
Benign naevi (moles): May be assessed for removal based on appearance, irritation, or risk factors. Removal options include shave or surgical excision following clinical assessment.
Sebaceous hyperplasia: Small, skin-coloured or yellowish bumps on the face due to enlarged sebaceous glands. Treatments may include non-surgical methods following a consultation.
Epidermal or sebaceous cysts: Deeper lumps under the skin that may be removed based on symptoms or personal preference.
Syringoma: Small bumps often around the eyes, caused by enlarged sweat glands. Treatment options may be discussed if suitable.
Pilar cysts: Cysts on the scalp that may be surgically removed if indicated.
Keloid scars: Raised scars that can be challenging to treat. Non-surgical options such as corticosteroid injections may be discussed during consultation. Excision is generally considered only in select cases.
All treatments carry risks and may not be suitable for everyone. A consultation is required to determine the most appropriate management for your individual needs.
New skin lesions should be checked by your local doctor if you are not sure of the diagnosis. If the lesion is safe to remove then one or a variety of treatment options may be available to reduce or remove it. Treatments for benign skin lesions include extractions, cryotherapy (freezing), fine wire diathermy, surgical excision, shave excision, curettage, chemical peels and laser.
If you are confident that your skin lesions are benign, then a consultation can be booked with our cosmetic therapists to discuss and schedule appropriate treatment.
