How our skin specialists can help you with anti-wrinkle injections:
Our specialist injectors at the Complete Skin Specialists offer advanced injecting techniques, using anti-wrinkle injections to deliver outstanding results for the treatment of facial ageing, headaches, jaw clenching, facial slimming and skin texture.
What is an anti-wrinkle injection?
Anti-wrinkle injections using Botulinum toxin A are a very successful treatment for facial lines and wrinkles. Regular use can help to prevent signs of ageing and be used a part of full-face rejuvenation.
How does it work?
Anti-wrinkle injections are derived from a bacterial toxin and acts as a neuromuscular blocking agent. This means that when it is injected directly into a muscle, it prevents activation and contraction of that muscle. It is delivered by injection directly into the facial muscles and works only on the muscles into which it is injected.
What can anti-wrinkle (Botulinum A toxin) injections be used For?
Especially for upper facial movement lines, including the frown line, forehead lines and crows feet
Muscle relaxant injections can be used below the mouth and chin area to reduce the downturn of the mouth and soften a prominent chin.
In the neck, it can be used to soften the neck bands and smooth the surrounding skin.
Jaw clenching and Bruxism (teeth grinding)
The use of muscle relaxant injections (or anti-wrinkle injections) is not just reserved for the relaxation of lines of facial expression and wrinkles. A popular procedure is the use of Botulinum Toxin type A to relax and reduce the size of the masseter muscles of the jaw. This is a common and extremely effective treatment for teeth grinding or bruxism.
Many people have hypertrophic masseter muscles, either as part of their normal anatomy or these muscles may be enlarged by excessive teeth grinding or clenching, known as bruxism. With overuse of habitual teeth grinding, the masseter muscles become larger and overdeveloped.
People who suffer from bruxism often report daily headaches, ear and facial pain, worn down/broken teeth and other dental problems. They suffer from daily pain and discomfort which has previously only been treated with special splints and physiotherapy.
Treatment needs to be repeated every 4-12 months
In patients with masseter hypertrophy (enlarged jaw muscle), treatment will result in a slimmed facial shape
Migraines and tension headaches
Relief is gained via treatment to forehead and temple muscles in some patients
Excessive underarm sweating
Botox treatment to sweat glands under arms results in significantly reduced sweating for approximately 6 months. This now is now available under Medicare for this indication for those that qualify
What Does the procedure Involve?
Muscle relaxants are injected into multiple facial sites using ultra-fine needles.Muscle relaxants at Complete Skin Specialists are injected only by trained and experienced injectors that will first assess your problem and discuss treatment options with you.
The injections are usually very well tolerated. The injections take effect 3-7 days later, and the effect lasts 3-4 months on average.
At this point, the procedure is repeated if desired. Most patients experience very little discomfort during the procedure.
Muscle relaxants can be used in combination with dermal fillers for complete facial rejuvenation.
